  • Most people are surprised by how gentle Japanese acupuncture feels. The needles used in Japanese acupuncture are very fine and the techniques very refined, so sensations are often minimal. Some people feel a slight tingling, warmth, or dull ache, while most people feel very little at all.

  • Your first appointment includes a detailed consultation to understand your health history, current concerns, lifestyle and goals. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we also assess patterns of imbalance through obserbvation, questioning, and pulse/tongue assessment where appropriate. Your treatment plan will be explained clearly, and your treatment will be conducted at the first appointment.

  • Appointment lengths vary depending on the type of consultation. Initial appointments (up to 1hr) are generally longer to allow time for a comprehensive assessment and treatment, while follow-up appointments (up to 30min) focus on reviewing progress and providing treatment.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing where possible. Many acupuncture points can be accessed without removing clothing, but sleeves, waistbands and pants should be loose to allow easy access as many points are found in these areas. However towels are provided to ensure you remain comfortable throughout the treatment if clothing needs to be removed.

  • The number of treatments varies depending on your health concerns, how long the issue/s have been present, and your individual response to treatment. During your consultation, we will discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

  • People seek acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for a wide range of health concerns, including stress, anxiety, sleep issues, digestive complaints, women’s health, headaches, fatigue and general wellbeing. Treatment recommendations are always individualised.

  • No referral is required. You can book directly for acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine consultations.

  • During your consultation, we will discuss your health concerns and goals and recommend the most appropriate treatment approach. Depending on your condition you may benefit from acupuncture alone, while certain conditions achieve better results with a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine. If you do not want acupuncture, herbal medicine alone can also be used for many conditions.

  • Chinese herbal medicine has been used for centuries. In Australia, herbal products supplied to registered Chinese medicine practitioners come from regulated manufacturers that must meet quality and safety standards. Trusted suppliers test their products to confirm their identity and quality and to check for contaminants.

    Like any medicine, Chinese herbs should be used according to professional advice. Your practitioner will consider your health history, current medicines (both over-the-counter and prescription), allergies, pregnancy status and treatment goals before recommending a herbal formula.

  • Yes. We provide gentle, age appropriate treatments for all aged children. Treatment techniques are adapted to suit each child’s age, sensitivity and comfort level, and non-needle treatments options are available.

  • We accept eftpos/debit cards, visa, mastercard, amex and cash.

  • If your health fund includes cover for acupuncture or Chinese Herbal Medicine, you may be able to claim a rebate. HICAPS facilities are available for on-the-spot claiming where covered by your health fund.

  • Yes. Telehealth consultations are available for Chinese herbal medicine. Following your consultation, herbal formulas can be prescribed and arranged for collection or delivery.
